In-person and virtual visits

All school/library visits begin with a reading of When We Go Home. Published by Kids Can Press, this warm-hearted and engaging picture book explores what it means to belong to two different cultures.

Audience: Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Six

Presentation Topics:

Becoming An Author: What does it take to become a writer and published author? Find out about my path to publishing the picture book, When We Go Home.

Immigration: The people in your neighbourhood; immigrant groups in Canada; their contributions to Canada and the world;

Migration: Birds, fish, animals and people on the move;

Citizen International: Explore what makes a country feel like home. What would your life be like if you were born in the country where your family members and ancestors were born?

Jamaica: There’s so much more to the Land of Springs than patties and patois. Explore the history, the heroes and the achievers;

Activities: Younger groups (Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3) may enjoy a workshop making and decorating paper airplanes and/or flags.
